    Default EOI submitted

    Hi to all,

After probably a year and a half of planning my EOI has been submitted for the next draw on 28/9/5.

A visit to NZ over Christmas and New Year did delay the process as we had to be sure we would like the place - not shocked to find we did.

NZQA have assessed my dusty old BTEC National Certificate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (How I had to convince myself at the time that "someday" it would come in handy) as level 4 and 50 points.

Also Electronic Technician is listed as an Absolute Skills Shortage Occupation so extra points.

If I am lucky on Wednesday will my application be looked at more favourably even without a job offer?

The glass being already half full.

Quite possibly. I'm not sure of all their reasonings for whom they select and when, but being on the absolute shortages list makes you sound like a shoe-in. Good luck.

    Default Thanks for your comments

    Hi everyone,

    Thanks for your support.

I need to update my CV in readiness for the Expo in London in a few weeks. I went last year and registered with various companies and received promotional info and discounts etc. I found it useful as I didn't think it would take this long just to get to the stage I'm at now (a year later) but the advice you get on the whole is honest and impartial given that each company in attendance is trying to sell you their services.

If you are unsure whether the online skills assessment you filled in is accurate then you can find advice on the day - NZIS had a stall last year.

Just dropped the asking price on my house as it has been on the market for 4 months and only two "offers" so far. As things are moving quickly after such a slow start I don't want to stuck with the house to sell.
