Default Brush with the NZ police!!

I had my first (and only I hope!!) brush with the NZ police the other day. As I was driving to work in my 'Nurse Maude' car I saw the flashing lights of a police motorbike behind me. I pulled over to let him pass but it was me he wanted to stop. I was racking my brains trying to think what I had done wrong. He then asked me - in a condecsending manner - 'at what point did you stop at that stop sign?'. My first thought was 'What stop sign?'. Further back uop the road was a small junction that had a stop sign and then the following part of the junction had a give way sign. Both these junctions are quiet. I remember slowing down and almost stopping at the first junction and I remember I had to stop at the second to let a car go by. It seemed that although I had 'almost' stopped, my wheels were still turning - all be it slowly, and this was my crime. What made it worse was that he had just stopped another nurse in a 'Nurse Maude' car for exactly the same thing. I was really apologetic and said I thought I had stopped. My grovelling must have paid off as he let me off with a warning. I was really lucky as he had told the first nurse that she would be the only one he let off that day. I only hope another nurse didn't do the same thing!!

He's obviously got a soft spot for nurses, thank goodness.

Nicky, I would have a stern talk with those wayward wheels of yours. They must have minds of their own if they are still turning after you thought they'd stopped.
