    Angry Where was common sense?

Who on earth could have dreamed up such a stupid invention?

    Flaming toy banned
    AAP | Thursday, 19 June 2008

A toy ball designed to be doused in kerosene, set alight and kicked around has been banned in NSW after a Western Australian teen was injured.

Fair Trading Minister Linda Burney has labelled the fire footbag, also sold as the fire soccer ball, outrageous and highly dangerous.

It has been on sale for $A35 ($NZ44.15) in major department stores as well as smaller markets and stalls across Australia.

About 300 of the balls had been sold across the country, Ms Burney told reporters today.

She said the alarm was raised after a teenage boy in WA suffered burns to his hands while playing with one of the balls.

"This outrageous toy is now permanently banned in NSW. It can't be sold anywhere," Ms Burney said.

"I cannot believe that people would actually think that this is an item of fun. It's highly dangerous, it becomes a missile that's alight."

Fair trading officers would comb retailers to ensure the fire ball was removed from sale and any found still selling the toy would face fines, she said.

South Australia earlier this week also banned the toy.

Maybe if they came with a couple of pairs of asbestos socks?
