Default Who is attracted to NZ?

I wonder, it seems that most people here come from the UK? Is it the cade that NZ mainly attract people from England or is it just this website? Are there many from Inida, China and Africa?

I think the majority or immigrants are British but there are plenty from all areas of the world.
Not sure how much of the pull is NZ itself though and how much is how bad the UK has become for most. Bit of both for us!

There are a few South Africans on here at the moment and there are a quite a few from the US but most are British I think.

As mentioned before, I think officially, the highest number of immigrants to NZ are from Asia, specifically China.

I would go along with Beth. There is quite a mix of nationalities on this forum, but I guess the Brits and Americans tend to stick around more than the Asians and other nationalities who might not feel quite so committed to making cyber friends and joining in with the wacky goings-on of forum life. They just ask their questions and we don't hear from them again until the next question crops up. Not everyone shows their country of origin so it's often difficult to tell, without a lot of digging around, where someone is from. It is true to say that the Brits have a large showing when it comes to immigrating to NZ so it's understandable that there would be a large presence on the forums.

If you look on the statistics page of the main website, it'll give you a good idea where folks are from, although a large percentage may well just be silent lurkers rather than participating members.

    Hi gnom,

I'm enrolled on a course at college this year. Of 14 students there are:

    2 UK
    2 India
    1 Fiji
    2 Ukraine
    1 Thailand
    1 Korea
    1 Palestine
    4 NZ

The immigrants have been in NZ between 2 - 6 years and range in age from 16 to 56 years old.

This forum has hosted people from all over the world since I've been a member. I think the Brits and Yanks tend to stay because it's English language based and run by a couple from Wales. Who happen to be quite nice :)

    Default Immigrant mix.

As long as it does not become like Sydney where Estate Agents in some areas won't rent you are house if you are of European extraction because the Indians or Lebanese don't want you there or that you can't buy something in a shop because people don't speak English. If you want a job in the Sydney Western Suburbs it is a barrier if you are white these days. So far about what we all wanted - everyone is the same... I hope NZ won't run into that trap.
