Riddle

We haven't had a game on the go for quite a while now so I'm looking around for inspiration.

Here's an easy one to get us started.

A man is found hanging from a rope in a room with no windows and only
one door. The door is the only way to enter or exit the room and it is
locked, barred and bolted from the inside. The man has been dead for hours
and his feet are a good three feet off of the floor.
The detectives who arrived on the scene were stumped since other than the
fact that the floor was covered in water, there was nothing else in the room
at all.

Was this a suicide or not?
Why?


I guessed it very quickly, so that must mean it's extremely easy.

2- Precisely two of these statements are untrue.
3- Precisely three of these statements are untrue.
4- Precisely four of these statements are untrue.
5- Precisely five of these statements are untrue.

7- Precisely seven of these statements are untrue.
8- Precisely eight of these statements are untrue.
9- Precisely nine of these statements are untrue.
10- Precisely ten of these statements are untrue.

Which of these statements is true?

First One,

Must be a suicide, cos the door was locked from the inside. He is probably hanging from his feet and drowned in the water or something like that!

Second One

Statement 9 is true, as all state they are 'precise', so it's the only one that could be precise, leaving the other nine as false.

I thought you'd have got the first one easily as you have that sort of mind.

First one - he committed suicide and stood on a block of ice to get the height, hence the water on the floor.

Second one - statement 9 is the true one.

I have another one.

A man walks along a road and comes to a fork in the road - one fork leads to village A and one to village B. There is a villager standing at the junction. All people from village A tell the truth and those from village B tell lies. The man needs to get to village A - he can only ask the villager at the junction one question - what is it?

Would it be that the man has to ask the villager which road leads to his village? If he's a liar, he will direct the man to the village where people tell the truth. If he's from the village where they tell the truth he will indicate the right road. Either way the answer should be the same.

Not at all, Nicky. You don't realise just how my heads hurts when I have to think like this.

Here's another one.

In Miss Lora's class are eleven children. She has a bowl with eleven apples. She wants to divide the eleven apples among the children of her class, in such a way that each child in the end has an apple, but one apple still remains in the bowl.

Can you help Miss Lora?
