    Default The Best of 2007

Okay, it's that time of year. Nominations please for the Best of 2007. I'll start the ball rolling.

    Best LP or CD

The Good, The Bad and The Queen by Damon Albarn, Paul Simonon, Simon Tong and Tony Allen. As good as real music gets and so much more rewarding than manufactured parc from wannabe reality tv stars.

I'm going to have to go with Bruce Springsteen's Magic. Although, I think I'd also have to throw in Year Zero by NIN as a strong second.

I'd like to be able to say that the new Foo Fighters or Eddie Vedder's solo album are better, but they're not. Bruce was clearly on top this year.

I'll probably download your choice from iTunes tonight ... not sure how I missed that one.

BTW, Koko, are you familiar with this duo, Rodrigo y Gabriella?

I just played the samples of Rodrigo y Gabriella. Mrs K's immediate reaction was "What's that rubbish"

    Best Movie of 2007

I think I've only seen 3 movies that were release this year ... maybe four. But I'm going to go with ...

    The Simpsons Movie ...

Which, incidentally, was one of the best reviewed films of the year.

I really do need to get out more, though.

Speaking as the OH here, let's talk some serious 2007 music; in no particular order, but all definitely worth downloading...yes, it has come to that as endless tattered boxes of vinyl do not travel well forever...check out the following:

Carbon Silicon - The Last Post (for all those still on a Clash nostalgia trip)
Grinderman - Grinderman (Nick as cool as ever)
Band of Horses - Cease to Begin
    Reverend & the Makers
    Just Jack
    Midlake
    LCD Soundsystem
    Pigeon Detectives
    Patrick Watson
    Rilo Kiley
    Voxtrot
    Besnard Lakes
and many many more as contrary to common held belief, music is still alive and kicking..oh, and if you want the best compilation this year, go no further than Love is the Song we Sing: San Francisco Nuggets 1965-1970. A 4 Cd compilation of gems and marvels that will leave your beads jangling .

Ps Film of the year?? Zodiac? This is England?Last King of Scotland.
    Whatever.
