Default Egalitarianism in NZ

Over at my blog (which you can find via link below), I've put up some thoughts about the egalitarian nature of NZ--as seen through my experience with the pool at QE II Leisure Center.

I was hoping that perhaps some of you would post some of your thoughts here about what NZ egalitarianism means. I might share some of them on my blog, too, if that's alright with you.

Thanks all!

Interesting topic Mr KH.

There's certainly a greater degree of egalitarianism than I've seen anywhere else. Most public facilities are of a high standard, higher than some privately owned places too, and you do see a mix of everyone at these places. I think private business is slowly eating away at the 'everyones the same' mentality, with luxury spas, exclusive gyms etc etc popping up everywhere.

Most importantly though, over any business and public facility, most kiwis still have the right mentality about equality, except certain horsey people eh Dawn?

That is sadly my experience Mr Taffmesiter.

Umm me too thinks this is an interesting topic and I will have to think about it some more before posting me feelings on this subject. (There should be a strokey beard smiley here).

Dawn runs away to look up egalitarianism in the dictionary and then consult various sociological volumes left over from college
