MotherBear will become famous soon enough
Default It's only money

£750,000 - The price of an ex Nuclear-bomb-proof missile base in Washington state. Available via e-bay. Vendors are warned that the underground tunnels need a £1 Million upgrade to make some of the useable.

£2.5 Million - What just 10 speed camera sites in Wiltshire brought in last year. 2 of these are positioned close to Stonehenge.

£1.5 Million - What DJ Chris Evans paid to own his own pub. Well, it's bound to cut down his bar bill now.

$100 Million - What Northern Rock collected in penalty fees from savers who took money out of accounts during the run on the bank earlier this month.

£375,000 - Donald Trump's latest offer to the owner of a Scottish farm right in the middle of his proposed golf course development in Scotland.

£1000 JK Rowling's donation to a dog's home after taking home one of their greyhounds. The norm is £30.

£32.92 - The cost per litre of water that Boot's is packaging and marketing as a:-
"Gentle Facial Spritz" specially formulated to refresh and hydrate. The sole entry under the ingredients list is "aqua!" A message in a bottle is fine but a shower in a bottle?

£6 Billion - The amount that migrant workers add to the UK economic growth each year. According to a GOVERNMENT study. Must be true then!!!

€15 - What Royal Mail waterproof jackets are selling for in Holland, where Dutch football fans and clubbers have adopted them as a fashion item.

£58,533 - The bill for Romsey council in Hants for a 3 hour visit there by HM The Queen. The cost did include a new £5000 toilet but it was not used by HM. As if!

£550,000 The cost of Tony Blair's (remember him?) new office in Grosvenor Square But it i hoped the cost will be shared by the 4 countries that are funding his work in Israel and Palestine. Now this really is a waste of space. Literally.

£200 - The cost of a Smoking Permit. A government advisor (where do they get these people?) has suggested a scheme to "register addicts" and allow purchases of cigarettes under license. Such Permits will be handed to those who pay and their health is not under "massive risk". A real Labour vote winner there, then.

£36 The cost of an average Xmas tree this year. An increase of 20% on 2006 due to a shortage of non-dropping "Nordmann Firs".

$30 Million - What Super model Gisele Bundchen earned year ending June 2007. She wants her pay in Euro not US Dollars. Smart lady!

$200 Million The combined total tax paid by global banana giants, Del Monte, Dole and Chiquita over the past FIVE years. It represents just 14% of their declared profits. How lucky would you be with a tax take of just 14%?

£1.4 Million - What the Cash-for-honours investigation cost Scotland Yard. Staff wages took 93% with the remainder undisclosed. £98000 on ploughman's lunches seems a little excessive. Not to be pushed out the CPS spent a further £122,000 on "Advice" from Independent counsel before deciding to drop the case. So, the pathetic tax payers coughed up £1.5 Million to see the case against Blair swept under the carpet. Again. See also £550,000 above.

£200 - The fine proposed for NEETS ( kids not in education, employment or training) if they fail to turn up for schooling under legislation unveiled in the Queen's Speech last week to raise the school leaving age to 18 years. If they are supposed to be at school, where is the money coming from to pay the fine? With prats like these in Government no wonder they need "Advisors." See £1.4 Million above.

5p - The price of a Marks & Spencer plastic bag to be introduced in SW England next Feb in "an attempt to reduce waste." Right, so it's nothing to do with the money they have to pay those TV fashion models then.

€800 Million - What the EU Commission pays out annually to 10,000 lobby groups, including Friends of the Earth. The reason given is that the Commission needs to get its message heard "at European level." Perhaps Noah's Arc should apply for some of that dosh. At least it will go to a worthy cause. What a disgraceful waste of our money though.

€10 Million - The bid made for the country, Belgium on eBay. The added message was " can be bought as a whole (not recommended)". The lot came with "€300 Billion of National debt ( Gordon Brown dreams of having just a €300 Billion debt). eBay has since removed the item.
