I'm hoping to get people interested in creating profiles on LinkedIn, a professional networking site. If you take a look around, you'll see that LinkedIn isn't Facebook or MySpace. It's designed for helping people create professional connections.

I'm hoping that we can use this to create an Expats in New Zealand group (I've applied to LinkedIn to moderate such a group) and attract members within the MTNZ community and hopefully eventually help people find employment opportunities.

<on edit>I realize that this reads like an ad, but I'm not getting anything out of this! I'm pushing this because I think it would be a great tool for us to have (and to offer new members), especially since we're all either in the midst of or have gone through the challenge of making professional contacts here.

The Expats in New Zealand Group on LinkedIn has been approved.


Again, the purpose of this is to allow interested parties to participate in a professional network. I'm thinking that until we see how well it works we limit membership to people who are regulars on this board or who can demonstrate that they will bring some value to membership in the LinkedIn Group (for example, people with existing networks on LinkedIn).

So, if you are interested, create your profile on LinkedIn, then either post here or pm me and I will send you a link to create the group.
