A Facebook question:

I thought a person's profile and the contents were viewable only by that person's Facebook friends if that was the option selected. How come then that a few people I've never heard of are suddenly bidding on me and buying my photo? There's nothing at all on my profile to say this, but I keep getting messages that so-and-so now owns me and someone else has bought my photo. Very odd and very spooky.

These applications that allow you to 'buy a pet' do this. You can't see the persons profile but if a friend of yours has 'bought' you then someone else can 'buy' you from them. Your details are still confidential & private.

Since quite a few of us on here are Facebook buddies, I thought I'd stick this virus warning on here. As it's coming from Snopes, that's usually an indication that it has been checked out and isn't just scaremongering.

You're playing Scrabulous? We have quite a little group of forum Scrabulousers on the go. Rumour has it that Hasbro has spit its dummy out and wants Scrabulous removed because of its similarity to Scrabble. There's a new game out now which is supposed to replace it, called Wordscraper. The creators are beavering away, trying to make it look as unlike Scrabble as possible, so it's a work in progress. It's not very vision-friendly as it uses spots instead of squares and we're not really happy about seeing spots before our eyes.

I can tell you're deeply upset about the TV adverts situation. I hope it won't scar you for life .

I'm playing Scrabble Worldwide via Facebook. Is that the same thing? I'm an honest player (no anagrammer) and like playing the 2 minute game because it's harder for the other player to cheat. Mind you, I keep getting beaten by my under-10s!

Selchie can't get to play Facebook Scrabulous with us from the US so she plays it via email. We get an email when it's our turn to play and same with her. She had also mentioned about playing Scrabulous Live which sounds like what you're playing. Playing against the clock wouldn't be any good for me as I like to take my time and ponder my move.
