Not having had a TV for many years nor having visited a cinema, I?m quite out of touch with movies so all I can say is that I like films that ?take me out of myself? and make me forget what?s going on around me. I don?t like political movies, cops and robbers type movies, cowboys and Indian ones (do they still have these?) or any ?everyday life? type ones. I quite enjoyed the Star Wars films (shows you how far back I go), Lord of the Rings and that sort of thing. I also have a passion for good spoofs but just can?t take horror or spooky films like the Exorcist, which caused me sleepless nights for a month , and anything to do with the supernatural. That?s an area that is only one step away from being reality, judging by stories that crop up from time to time.

I love reading but am quite fussy about what I read . My favourite is real-life adventure to far flung places like people who go to live amongst other totally different cultures or cross empty deserts. And, in this, I include people from other cultures who tell their story. It?s interesting to see how they overcome tremendous difficulties and manage to survive, sometimes against all odds. I suppose you could say I?m an armchair traveller. I also like reference books about various hobbies I pursue or other interests I have at the time.

Favourite men??. apart from hubster and my boys, I haven?t really got any as I don?t follow the movies and know who?s currently ?in vogue? although I would admit to having had a little pash for Kevin Costner at one time. I binned him when I read that he was ?playing away from home? big time. No-good philanderer! I like even my phantasy men to be faithful.

Favourite music is anything that makes my foot tap . Again, I?m not up to speed with current bands as Radio Sultanate of Oman tends to play a range of oldies most of the time or heavy classical stuff, which is when the radio goes off. I?ve not been listening to the radio for a long time in the house but have started to now with the advent of MTNZ radio.

Reading through the lists of fav kids? programmes, I was amazed at so many programmes that I recognise from way back when my kids were small. Andy Pandy? Have they resurrected that? That was on when I was a kid. When I left the UK I was appalled at the rubbish that was being offered to kids on the TV and despaired of them ever being able to grow up of sound mind. That?s why it?s good to see some of the old programmes still surviving.

Flora and fauna? I love most growing things apart from weeds and prickly, stingy stuff. I like peace and quiet so no noisy animals, please and none that bite, sting or cause damage to the environment, particularly my garden. One little critter I could mention as being a favourite is the meerkat (the pics on here aren?t showing for me at the moment, so hope it?s only a local Net problem). Saw a programme on TV once upon a time and was very impressed by how organised they were within their groups. Of course, my main everyday favourite is the household moggy. I love small furry animals and don?t have a lot of time for big ones like horses and cows. You can?t cuddle them so easily, so I?ll leave them for the likes of Dawn who really appreciates them. A protective mother horse once took a bite out of No.1 son?s side because he was stroking her foal, so I?m wary of them .
