We had some trick or treaters dressed up in their frightening halloween costumes. Don't usually get them as we live up a long dark driveway with a vicious dog next door that treats our garden as her territory (and fortunately us as part of her family!).

Anyway I had nothing for them but half a bag of Aero snacksize. I apologised. They asked how many was in the bag - I said about two each - their spokesman then said "that's OK, we'll just take one each and leave the rest in case more kids come."

HAH! Lucky you Glenda! If you were in the US, they could do a "trick" on you. I disliked Halloween because it gave the teenaged kids from the ghetto a chance to come around (without costumes) and bang on doors. I used to turn out all the lights and pretend nobody was at home....in case one of these big "kids" decided to pull a gun or knife on me to rob me...or worse! The little neighborhood kids who were the real trick or treaters were cute.

I wasn't sure how it was dealt with here, so I bought in a bag of lollies just in case - we only had 2 lots round (both from our street) and our neighbours brought US a plate of home made sweets as a treat!! So now I'm scoffing my way through the lollies - no muffins with FingersCrossed today!!

Nothing at all for us. I dare say there might have been some trick or treating in the expat camps where there's a high proportion of westerners living together, but it was blissfully quiet here. Not even a bullet through the window either.

I love Halloween, and was sorry that we had tickets for a performance that night. But I got an hour of trick-or-treaters before we left. Fortunately we don't get any dangerous types. My only trouble one year was having teens kicking in my pumpkins before 7:00. Now I place them in the windows.

I keep thinking of setting up a haunted garden (mood, not gore), but would probably need all year to make up the props. -Plus a storage locker in which to keep them. Some day, perhaps.

Thanks, MB for all the great Halloween smileys.

Our local church here in our village put on a great thing, it was a light party and was dreamed up by an Auckland christian mum to promote an alternative to halloween, it was fantastic the kids all arrived in fancy dress (no scary ones allowed) and there was trampolines, a merry go round, a swinging thing (ahem technical term hehe) and loads of stalls and games. Free food was provided along with popcorn and candyfloss and a great time was had by all!!!
It was a nice opportunity to meet lots of parents of the kids our kids play with at school and I even met a girl from Perthshire!!! Spooky that we live in a global village eh?

Sounds like the sort of festivity that everyone gets to take part in and enjoy. [smiley=023.gif]
