Abject apologies, Tottefan.

I am sure we all value your input on here ... you just get a bit scary at times to us lesser educated folks, especially on socio/historical matters.

Please ignore my post of yesterday.
No, I think you were right. [smiley=icon_biggrin.gif]

I understand what you're saying MB and Taffy I think it's a great idea to do something to get those of you on 'the other side' together every now and again. If we were there we'd definately like to come. I've said to MB before that you can get the wrong impression of people just from what their posts are like - meeting new people is cool.

I also think it's true that we grow to regard one another as friends, even though we've never met and yeah I think some people may feel like they're being let down by those folks who touch down and never come back.

Whatever happens there will always be a committed contingent I'm sure and they'll keep the old wheel turning ;)

Jeez man, people need to give us folk in NZ a break.

Stevey, for some reason, that hurt. You have done extremely well with your informative posts since you've been in NZ and, as you can see, everyone really appreciates them, but that comment had a bit of a sting to it. It was like you're saying 'OK, I'm here now, leave me alone and get off my back.' I'm sure you didn't mean it like that as you've been so helpful, but it comes across like that.
Nooooo don't be silly!!! I'm still posting aren't I, no I was just speaking for some of the people who may feel a bit 'lent on' or pressured to keep posting. I'm sure it's just your way, but sometimes you can come across a bit 'scolding'. It felt a bit like we new arrivals were being accused of 'using' the forum. Noone will aver pt in nearly as much time as you MB.
Just trying to take the sting out of it a bit and provide an objective point of view.
Sorry if it hurt your feelings a bit, I'll kiss it better when we finally meet eh, how bout that [smiley=icon_mrgreen.gif] [smiley=icon_wink.gif]

Apology accepted, Stevey. And, yes, I dare say I do come across as ?scolding? some of the time. I guess it?s my crotchety middle-agedness coming out or even shades of my disappointment when things don?t quite go according to my hopes and expectations. I suppose I?m of the ?old school? where things were done differently, so I no doubt feel more strongly about certain things. God, I sound like my grandmother, if I still had one, that is.

It is disappointing when folks don?t feel they want to hang around the forum any longer when we?ve thought they enjoyed being a part of it, the same as we do. It?s served its purpose and now they?ve moved on. There?s nothing we can do about it and it?s entirely their choice . It?s like yoga classes or music lessons, you get fed up with it or find you no longer have any use for it, so you don?t go any more. Stands to reason.

Before you left the UK, I?m sure you appreciated and looked forward to postings from NZ and the rest of us are the same. The information imparted to us adds fuel to our dreamy moments, when we?re thinking ahead to when we, too, hope to be there ourselves. And who would take all those great NZ pics that we drool over, if there weren?t any NZ contributors?

One thing that runs through my mind is that a great number of our members are making the move this year and there?s not that many regular posters coming in behind to take their place. Let?s hope it?ll pick up after the summer hols.

And how do you know where I keep my feelings? I?ll have to find a new hiding place for them, as hubster might take exception to you kissing them.

Ahhhh blessed 'middle aged' (as you call it) naivity. You have no idea how bad that sounds hehe. [smilie=Astonished.gif]

I was thinking of the kiss respect dictates I give you when we meet as per traditional British meeting custom. [smiley=icon_mrgreen.gif] [smiley=icon_rolleyes.gif] [smiley=icon_mrgreen.gif]

I know, I was just pulling your leg. It's about all I've got the energy for in this humidity.

Just read this topic for first time and I think it's a great idea and very thoughtful of you Taffy and Mother Bear!
I realise that nodody is trying to force anything but I have often felt a bit guilty of 'taking' alot of advice with not much in return but I really hope to help others once I'm set up in NZ, like Glenda, Stevey and all the others (that I'm still trying to familiarise myself with!) do!
I'd also love to meet up with people where possible and have that 'support network' going in NZ.
This site has been fantastic for us and there isn't a day that goes by when I don't relate to one topic or post or comment etc... to Eddie. If he asks me a 'dumb' question, I just say... 'Well you should go onto the site and read or ask for yourself!!' Ha.... Basically, I'm always relating back to this forum one way or another and I'm even saying your names as though you're my mates!!! Ha ha...
I'm sure I will actually enjoy helping others as much as poss with questions etc... once we're set up with the internet again in NZ, not obliged at all!
it's been brilliant having some of my posts answered by people that are actually there as well as people who are planning to go.
So, thanks again everyone for being so helpful and friendly!! [smiley=008.gif] Ha!

Hi all, this is Pulsarblu....

I must say that the forum is a source of inspiration for all this while, comfort when I need it, laughter (frequent) and anger (sometimes). There are certainly some members who come, ask some questions, got what they want and disappear. That is perfectly alright and they have the choice but as some agreed the feeling is hard to swallow, I feel sometimes being made use and the forum loses its main purpose. However I am really pleased to stay on in the forum and I bet many many members are happily doing that too whether they are still in their home country or migrated to NZ.

That is the true essence of the forum. I really hope one day in the not too long future, we can gather in person and finally meet each other (regular posters) since I realized gathering 800+ members require a huge place. Meeting in person is still the best. Communicating using forums and other mediums will inevitably lead to misunderstandings, unclear messages and etc.... (hope I am not creating one here)

Anyway, please keep on posting and yes, taffy, website improvements is an ongoing process as long as the core spirit is kept. Remember the starting point (purpose) of the site....

i am probably one of THE most guilty offenders and for that I am really sorry.

BUT...

in the uk all i seemed to do was work .. and when I got home i had no energy (or inclination) to do anything worthwhile, as the life was being sucked from inside me.. it was easy to log on to here and 'escape'

HOWEVER,

here in NZ i actually have a life and it's bloody brilliant..
I have started playing guitar again after a 20 year break, because I can be arsed to..
i walk and cycle and do lots of things round the house and garden.. and enjoy doing it..

I dont use the pc enough to warrant broadband so my slow dialup makes the forum un-useable really...

I should (and will) start to come on here form work more often.. i promise..

and i think it's a great idea taffy..
anything i can do to help, let me know..

apologies for my apparent lack of interest..
its just so good to have a life again...

cheers for now..

(stevey, got your message today.. will be in touch soon, really sorry I missed you at the weekend.. and NO i dont hate you..)
