Despite England going out, I've really enjoyed the World Cup thusfar. The games have generally been good, the tournament has been well organised and the fans have generally been very well-behaved. The same can't be said of Christiano Ronaldo, of course. :icon_biggrin:

Thankfully, it looks like us Brits have finally put our hooligan image behind us. Long may that continue!!

I take back some of what I said the other day. Since the second round stage the football has been dull and uninspiring. The players ave also behaved in a very unsporting and ungentlemanlike manner, with Christiano Ronaldo and the Portugese, in particular, springing to mind. Let's hope that the final is better.

I agree - if the claims are true as to what Materazzi said to Zidane to provoke that response, then Zidane's actions were understandable, if not justified.

I just thought it was a pity to end his career on a low note.

OK, so I'll give you the diving thing - I believe there's some clause in their contract or something though that enrols them for a year at the most prestigious performing arts college in Italy so only doing their job man!

Seriously though Stevey, surely you can't condone violence of any kind in sport, those footballers get paid obscene amounts of money and should be role models to the millions of kids that watch them week in week out. Whatever happened to sportsmanship? I know he was provoked but come on.....they must get that kind of stuff on the pitch all the time, it's a tactic, he should've been a bigger man and walked away.
