Can someone please comfort me by telling me that they don't use this type of curtain hook in NZ? Just washed a houseful of net curtains (22, floor to ceiling ) and have had to rethread all the hooks back onto the curtain header, which was no mean feat as each prong has to be fed in whilst trying to ensure the others don't pop back out again. The hooks are used to create pleats and are a right pain to use although very effective. Some I've encountered in another country had sharp spikey end which were quite vicious and totally unsuited to being threaded into header channels. Hopefully they have something more sensible and less labour intensive in NZ.

Sounds a right pain, MB.

'Fraid I can't help you, though. The curtains we have are threaded onto a batten of wood and screwed to the wall, making them very difficult to get down and wash.

I will have a look in our local curtain shops next time I'm out.

Thanks, Glenda. I could have checked while I was down there, if I'd only thought about it. Sounds like you'll have your own share of problems when you come to take your curtains down. Might be easier to move house.

Of all the things to freak out about, you're panicing about curtain hooks, you have waaaay to much time on your hands hehe, if you were out there already you'd be too busy working on Taffys escort to hang curtains I'm sure.

Stevey, you obviously haven?t had experience of Middle Eastern type curtain hooks. I?m not panicking at all, just would like reassurance that I won?t have to grapple with such monstrosities when I come to NZ. It takes a lot of dexterity to wrestle all four prongs into the 4 channels, the channels being further apart than the prongs, so it?s not a case of simply sliding them in. I?ve got the hang of it now after doing 22 curtains, but would still rather not have to go through this in my dotage with my (probably by then) arthritic or, at least, creaky old hands. Perhaps I should just leave the curtains up there to gather dust and dead spiders.

And what else is there to talk about on here on a Sunday when everyone (except me, as it's a normal weekday here) is too stuffed full of Sunday roast to roll onto the forum and post or just plain has better things to do.

Yes, Nattydread, I was just typing something along those lines when I noticed you'd pipped me to the post.

And you actually counted them? Pot calling the kettle, I think. We both need something more invigorating to do on a Monday.
