you actually know I counted them by recounting them yourself, much sadder.

Actually I copied and pasted into word and ran word count, almost as sad, not quite as time consuming :icon_mrgreen:

No I didn't. I just took your word for it, trusting soul as I am.

Back to the curtain hooks: if NZ has only the type MB showed, then I'm bringing a huge batch of my hooks, and a few transom rods. I'll pleat & sew the curtains myself. It's possible that Stevey thinks it's trivial because he leaves all those pesky housekeeping chores for his poor long-suffering wife.

Trivial it may be, but you can all relax safe in the knowledge that NZ does actually sell your plain old plastic curtain hooks!

Sorry if thats killed the discussion by blowing out the mystery!

Thanks, Taffy. Good news and bad I guess, as we probably wouldn't be able to use these nets (or drapes as the NZers call them) down there. Thought we could still use the viscious hooks, but they might not fit the type of rails you have. Don't know what I'm fretting about as, by the time we eventually get down there, the bloomin' drapes will have rotted away anyway. ::)

They do have a preference for blinds rather than nets/curtains here. Maybe something to do with condensation. There is certainly some areas of black mould on the curtains we do have.

I've seen both plastic and metal hooks here but not like your Omani ones, MB. As you say, it all depends on compatible rail tracks available here.

There's a couple of sets of dark brown wooden blinds in the dining area of the NZ house already, which do a good job of filtering the light, but, because of their dark colour, they tend to make the area look dark. I'm more of a 'light and airy' sort of person. We haven't had proper curtains at all in the last 2 houses we've lived in (too expensive and too heavy when you're moving around all the time) and have just managed with the nets, as the windows are tinted anyway. From this pic, you can see what a good job the curtan hooks do of pleating, but they are a pain to work with.
