A joke with a bit of truth?

(I'll stick my neck out here!!!) It seems to me that most Kiwi blokes like to be seen as 'real men' - and that means saving the world and graciously accepting groupies with scones. However, equally they believe in 'fair go' and if the job goes to a women, then she deserves a go, and if she can't cope with the toilet seat up then she can't have the mettle for the job.

If that report had come from Oz, I think I'd have to err on the side of sexism, as the men can tend to be that way from what I've heard. Really not too sure if the same would apply in NZ or not. Certainly in some cases it would do, as fire fighting would be seen as a man thing and they might well feel put out if a female trod on what they would see as their territory. Isn't it occasionally the same in the UK? I would have no doubt that a lot of NZ women would be more than capable of doing the job. They are pretty tough looking, maybe coming from good farming stock?
