really getting down about the whole thing now though..
what would be the score do you think, if our house doesn't sell and we decide that we don;t want my wife to go out on her own to take up her job, so we pull out of that job offer? that would mean our ITA (being processed as we speak :icon_sad: ) would be worthless as the job offer would no longer be valid.
Since our EOI was processed on the strength of that job offer, I guess that would be worthless as well..
So we'd be back to square one..
If we manage to sell the house in the months aftterwards, then we'd need to start the whole process again from scratch, medicals , police checks , the whole kit and kaboodle..?
Am i right or am I right..

I believe your wife could go out there for 3 months and if the house hasn't sold then come back. She only has to stick with the job offer for that length of time for PR to still be valid.

What a dreadful shame that would be. Is your wife?s job conditional on her starting at that particular time i.e. can?t she postpone her start date for perhaps a month or two, stating the difficulty with selling the house or some other reason if you prefer? If they want her badly enough they may be prepared to hang on for a reasonable time. I?d imagine it would be too much of a nightmare for you to go back over old ground if you have to start from scratch again. If your PR comes through shortly, you have up to 12 months to activate it so there should, hopefully, be no problem there.

arrive nz on visitors visa..
drive around find where we want to live, find 2 jobs.
dont come back..

but knowing our luck,. there's probably a time limit stopping us from doing that because we're so far down this road..

Nothing like gripping the bull by the horns. Can't say you haven't got the spirit of adventure, so wish you all the very best of luck in your decision. At least you'll have one salary coming in and I'm sure it'll work out fine.

I know others who have gone out before their houses sold, for some it has worked out, for others it hasn't and they have had to come back when it still hadn't sold for 6 months.
Make sure you have the finances for it not selling before taking this option. Also have you tried selling it by auction.

Work out how much it would cost you to keep it on the market for 6 months against how much you could drop your price to get a sale now. It cost us at least 3K for the 6 months it hadn't sold once we had bought this one.
