4 days in now, Stevey. Sorry to report, no spatulas have been wielded and no sign of any bitchiness yet. Perhaps I should try harder to provoke some, just so I've got something interesting to report to keep you on the edge of your seat. I know how you like a bit of goss.

Hehe sorry Welshgirl, just after a bit of Drama. All these folks upping sticks and moving to the other side of the world is not nearly exciting enough hehe.

I wouldn't have said it if there was any chance that it could be close to the truth hehe.

you can keep trying tho MB it'll still funny if you succeed.

Hmmm, do I represent the sad state the world is in today with my stirring :icon_redface: DOH!!!

From what I saw, a lot of NZ garden plants aren't natives, but having a native plant book is always good to have for folks like me. Most of the garden plants I noticed were similar to those we have in Calif. The NZ climate is wonderful for gardeners.

Ayeeee! Just seen my first whitetail . Was crossing the floor heading straight for my unshod feet. Luckily hubster spotted it and dearest Taffy, pushing back his computer chair to have a better look, managed to run over it. Just got a quick peek at it before it ended up pulverised into the carpet. It didn't look anything like I expected. I was certain it was a big ant, but am assured it wasn't.

On the subject of beasties, haven't come across many flies yet, but that may soon change when we move to a more rural location. Haven't come across any mosquitoes either which is a major bonus, as I'm their favourite snack.

Just try to keep pesticides to a minimum, and lure the wee birdies over to eat the nasty insects. Nature in balance and all that. And try not to live next to a stockyard. Or a garbage landfill. Or Stevey's gym socks [smilie=tease.gif].

We had our place misted with insect repellant/killer the morning we went away on our holiday. The chap whizzed round in no time in his special boots, 'containment suit' and face mask. We were told to cover up pillows and to wash linen/sofa throws etc. We were also told to leave the house for a minimum of three hours, open windows and doors when we re-enter and wipe all surfaces. We did this on our return as well as vacuum up all the dead insects.

Do hope we are not unknowingly damaging ourselves. :icon_neutral:

It's possible, so try not to make a weekly habit of it :icon_wink: . I hope you protected or washed anything that might come into contact with your mouth, e.g. toothbrushes, dishes, produce, etc. The pesticides may not kill you or make you sick right away, but accumulation of neurotoxins (if that's whate they were) could lead to trouble down the road. I know too many people with mystery ailments to be blithe in my use of most chemicals. Too much knowledge about hazardous chemicals could make you paranoid, too!
