Default Mother Bear's arrived!

Blue-Silver Fern perhaps?

Kiwifruit blossoms?

Tea?

Welcome to NZ MotherBear. We may have been in the airport at the same time. Were you the one that made that poor little beagle start yelping?

I think he smelled the scent of........kitty cat on you

Welcome to NZ MotherBear. We may have been in the airport at the same time. Were you the one that made that poor little beagle start yelping? Yes, probably was me running over him in my wheelchair. Had a mad Maori driver who whizzed me through the airport like a bullet out of a gun.

Thanks for the welcome to NZ, James. Am enjoying being here so far.

Another pic of them (blue and white) growing on the central reservation along Taffy's road. Been to Tauranga today and have seen them all over the place. Beginning to wonder if it's another runner for NZ's national flower.

It's Agapanthus, perhaps aka lily of the Nile. We have them in California, too. They are popular in monoculture plantings, though I find them boring that way. They may be from southern Africa, but I haven't checked my gardening guide.

Oh and howdy MB - good to hear you survived the flights. I'm glad you and WG didn't cross spatulas, though a flapjack-flipping contest could be fun.

Thanks Selchie, both for the name of the plant and the arrival sentiments. I fully intend buying a book on NZ plant life before I leave here. It'll come in handy to indentify plants in the garden of the house we've bought and also give us some ideas of others to put in there.

I asked my Kiwi flatmate, and he confirmed they are in fact "Agapanthus".

Good going Selchie! =D>

Hi Mother Bear welcome to NZ. We hope you have a great time, I'm sure you will.

I never stop laughing when I talk to that pair your staying with, so your sides might ache alittle before you leave.

Maybe it's just me :icon_rolleyes:

Stevey, have I not been sufficiently sympathetic to your cause recently?? And here's me thinking we were mates :icon_rolleyes: . I don't have a bitchy bone in my body.... I'm sure Taffy will agree (he'd better ).

Anyway, I'm off to sulk now :
