silly question

I have read quite a bit around here and there about people going through solicitors. What exactly does one do? :icon_question:

If we wanna sue McDonals for making us fat, we appoint a solicitor to prosecute. Similarly in other Legal Situation i.e selling houses/unlawful dismissal a solicitor deals with the case.

Do you mean 'What is a solicitor?' or what does a solicitor do for people who are emigrating to NZ?

:icon_razz: I suppose both, but Stevey did such a great job explaining my general question. So, I guess a solicitor would be helpful in the home buying process when emigrating? I was curious because I work now dealing with paperwork associated with selling/buying homes....and because I'm inquisitive. :icon_wink:
