Well I guess it's time for an explanation for my absence recently (if anyone cares).
Had a few more viewers and no offers on the house, so today we lowered the price of the house to basically declare that 110k offer seals a sale. That's as low as we can go and should prompt some more interest if nothing else. Still really depressing but there's nowt you can do I guess.

On a more miserable note, I had a tonsillectomy last monday week, which sucked. Came out but then was rushed into hospital again on the following thursday night with secondary bleeding. Lost about 3 pints of blood but managed to avoid a transfusion (I think). Had 3 huge blood clots sucked out of my throat and puked up about a pint of blood. A second operation under general led to me having stitiches in my throat and tube down my nose to suck all the blood from my stomach.
After coming out last Saturday I've felt absolutely terrible all week. Can't eat hardly anything as it's agony and at night I get chronic ear-ache lying horizontally. Got some stonger pain-killers now tho and I can feel some improvement.
The doctor signed me off for another two weeks on tuesday and I've lost half a stone in weight through not eating so that's a good thing I guess.

Should be around here more frequently again tho so you'll have that to look forward to hehe.

What a nightmare, on all fronts.

Hope you're on the mend now.

Console yourself a little bit with the thought that, had this happened AFTER you'd moved to NZ, not only would you be feeling like shite, you'd have had to dig deep for the pleasure too.

Seriously though, hope you're over the worst and things start to pick up for you.

Welcome Back!!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, Stevey. You poor soul[img:cea80026d2]http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/aktion/action-smiley-032.gif[/img:cea80026d2]. And I thought I was hard done by. These childhood operations often have a habit of wreaking havoc when they are performed on us adults and you seem to have copped the whole bifta. Thank goodness you?re on the mend now. You must be sure to rest and build your strength up now. We?ll have to send out healing vibes to one another until we?re both fully back on our feet again.

Sorry you?ve had no luck on the house front. I was hoping that?s why you were missing, because you were busy packing up after selling the house. We?ve managed to sell our villa in Spain (I hope) against all odds, as the place was, like a lot of others out there, literally thrown up and it shows. We had to wait over a month for the buyers? money to come through from their house purchase in the UK. On Weds. we were due to complete, but then yesterday there was a frantic call from our agents to say that there was a problem with our paperwork because hubster had a new passport a while ago and it was the details from his old passport that wrongly appeared on the deeds. It appears our solicitor hadn?t bothered to check the paperwork prior to completion, so everyone was caught out on the day. She also turned very uncooperative and would not communicate with our selling agent, who sounded on the verge of committing murder[img:cea80026d2]http://www.kolobok.wrg.ru/smiles/rpg/orc.gif[/img:cea80026d2]. The builder has been uncooperative too and hasn?t bothered to do the snagging list (most of the lights don?t work, amongst other things). Our buyers desperately needed to move into the villa, as they had nowhere to stay and were threatening to pull out of the sale if we couldn?t arrange for them to get keys to move in while the amended paperwork went back to the notary. It all got very hairy [img:cea80026d2]http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/sprachlos/speechless-smiley-040.gif[/img:cea80026d2] for a while and involved several calls and emails to Spain, but things are quiet today so I hope it?s all sorted bar the paperwork being approved by the notary, which we hope will be early next week. I won?t rest until it?s all signed and sealed. I hope, when it happens, that your house sale will go more smoothly.

Well, that's me and now Stevey, who's next? Got to be a third to complete the set.

Here's a theory. There's two of us and everytime someone has tried to be as unfortunate as us they would be the third person. But 'third time lucky' denotes that they're all fortunate where as we're stuck :icon_sad:

That's definitely it :icon_biggrin:

House sales are a nightmare. We've got a fair amount of profit tied up in the house but until it's sold we're really struggling financially, it's a pain not being able to buy simple things that you need like a new tumble-drier or get the car fixed, when in terms of assets you're quite well off really. HeyHo there's so many people more unfortunate than us.

Wow Stevey. Hope you get better. Things seem to be hitting us from all sides.

Taffy, you haven't been to Egypt to open up any cursed tombs have you?

I'm not going out of the house until the 3rd person gets hit. :icon_cool:

No, never been to Egypt, let alone opened any tombs!

Well Stevey, sounds like you've been having an entertaining time recently. You've had 3 bad things happen now, car incident, delayed NZ plans and now this. That would mean that the next thing to happen will be good, as bad things come in threes.

So, to outline a brief plan of your future:

1. Your house will sell quickly at that new price.
2. Your boss will let you go soon after resigning.
3. You'll be supping champagne on ChCh beach soon after.

Timescale? 4 months max I reckon, start to end.

Ahhh don't....just reading it made a floaty feeling wash over me, and for a split second I was in heaven, my head didn't hurt anymore.

Unfortunately that doesn't include, the rover I bought as a replacement losing me 200 quid with faults skillfully covered up by the dodgy garage. The Audi that cost 320 quid, input shaft to the gearbox breaking so yet to be sold as the work is more than the value of the car. And now the Mondeo I bought for agrand in a desperate attempt to buy something reliable, making our buggy go mouldy from the leak in the boot, the speedo only working intermitantly so total miles are probably even more astronomical than the milometer suggests, the exhaust needing replaced 4 days after buying it (sold as seen btw), and even the CD changer not working.

Hehe I forgot to mention the key point about my operation, that just makes me stop caring anymore and forcing me to smile at my misfortune.

The second op was due to something called 'secondary bleeding'. This affects about 3% of tonsilectomy patients. However it is normally cured by some special mouthwash and more injections, at worse they have to quarterise is again. The percentage that require a whole new operation????

ONE FREAKING PERCENT thats 1%

Ridiculous!!!!! :icon_evil:

Geez, sounds like all kinds of un-fun for you, Stevey. You haven't taunted any Roma (Gypsies) lately, have you? At least all that spitting up blood was timely for Halloween. Quite the trick over those kids kicking in Jack-O'Lanterns. It sounds like the meds are helping your mood, though. Here's to swift healing, and swifter house selling.

MB, have you considered renting the Spain house to the buyers until escrow closes? I've heard of the reverse being done - renting to the sellers until their next home is ready. It could be a way to keep them on the hook, as it were. Hopefully it will close soon enough, and you won't have to worry.

Good grief Stevey, what a run of bad luck. Hope you feel better soon.

I do wonder if those who have in their minds 'finished' with the UK lose their share of luck in the country?

I mean ... err ... I have heard of many people whose luck has been down since setting their sights on another country - almost as if they have transferred their 'luck' or 'fortune' to their new country before they have got there.

Perhaps you ought to set aside a drop of your drink and a morsel of your dinner to the old gods as a sign of deference? Can't do any harm.
