Default Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween from us as well! :icon_mrgreen:

I have to admit Halloween hasn't, in the past, been my favourite time of the year (egg throwing and the house being covered in flour wasn't my idea of fun :icon_evil: ) but celebrating Halloween in the glorious sunshine (surreal as it was, after years of cold Halloweens in the UK), going to a Halloween fair, playing apple-bobbing with our daughter and having no trouble from trick or treaters, I admit to having enjoyed it this year.

Having a Bonfire BBQ on Friday (yes, I know it's a day too early!), looking forward to that too :icon_biggrin: .

And Christmas..... in the sunshine..... on the beach..... in my shorts..... I'll have to try and get my head around that one closer to the time :icon_confused:

Default Trick or Treat!

they don't do trick or treating??

I better not tell Lauren, she won't want to go.

She doesn't do any tricking yet (only 7) but she LOVES the treat part
Bloody hell, it's tonight, I better get some supplies in for all the little cherubs.

They hate coming to our house, every where else they get sweets or money.
They always get fruit at our house..

(who says trick and treat is just for the kids... :icon_lol: )

I would assume this means there were trick or treaters, just that they were well behaved ones.

Just thought I would let you know (so you can tell Lauren) that kids do dress up and go trick or treating here. ::):

The Warehouse has been selling costumes and packets of lollies (the name for sweets here) for a couple of weeks now. Saw plenty of kids dressed the part last night, though none bothered going up our long driveway. :icon_biggrin:

They have Guy Fawkes night here too. Big boxes of cheap fireworks for sale in supermarkets and The Warehouse. :icon_eek: We will probably watch the display at Paihia, sitting on the beach with a cup of chips. :icon_biggrin:

i thought guy fawkes would be a british only thing..

i suppose its a throwback to days of old.

your fireworks night suounds like a better proposition than a freezing cold night in glasgow with a a plastic cup of chemical bovril and a cheap pie..

You Americans rewriting history again? :icon_wink:

Know you are just pulling our legs ... I mean [i:da4b3bbb4d]everybody[/i:da4b3bbb4d] knows that 5th November 1605 was before 4th July 1766. :115: :icon_biggrin:

Guess we should all celebrate that parliament was not blown up ... even when we sometimes feel like doing it ourselves. :icon_lol:

Default Trick or Treat!

Fortunately we have not received the eggs and flour trick. But now we set the Jack-O'Lanterns in the window rather than on the porch. We had two years in a row where a group of teenage drenniks kicked in our pumpkins early in the evening. Other than that, we have had good luck with the kids. We had 55 last night - a record for us. It gets rather discouraging when we only get a couple dozen.

I will have trouble getting used to NZ Halloween at the beginning of summer, though. That's the time for Maypole dances, not spooks and haunts.
