Hoooorrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy!

Just had a phone call from a principal of one of the (many) schools I've applied to to ask me for interview!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's on Thursday 3rd Nov (the 2nd Thurs I'm in NZ)!

I fly out this Mon..........can't wait and atleast I've got some business to attend to now as well as seeing the family!

So excited, I just had to tell someone! :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:

I've just got in from work and checked my emails and there is one from a case officer asking me to contact her for my phone interview!!! Any more good news and I'm going to burst!!!

Thanks very much Mother Bear!

Am frantically trying to pack what I need for the 2 weeks and what else I can squeeze in to leave in NZ when I return.

The children are now with my mum and dad so at least I can pack quietly! Am going to miss them though and they were not impressed that they couldn't come!

I will update you on my progress! Bye for now.

Teaching appears your best bet if you want to be a Cabinet minister in a Labour-led Government. The warm-up act can be a stint in front of the classroom either at a university or school. It doesn't hurt to have been a union representative either, and being in one of the teacher unions is a sure-fire way to advance your political career.

From Prime Minister Helen Clark down, there are four university lecturers, and five teachers - not including Police Minister Annette King, who did a stint as a tutor at the School of Dental Nurses. There are also two union secretaries - although Lianne Dalziel, the Commerce Minister, combined law with being a trade union leader - another lawyer, a couple of farmers and a few businessmen.

Then there is a vet - Health Minister Pete Hodgson, who was also a fruit and vegetable retailer, and a public affairs person, Building Issues Minister Clayton Cosgrove. Corrections Minister Damien O'Connor has the most varied background, including farmer, fencer and river guide.

Outside Cabinet, Foreign Minister Winston Peters is a former lawyer and Revenue Minister Peter Dunne was an Alcoholic Liquor Council employee.
