Where to settle?

Hi every one

Well this is a big decision, we have travelled both islands now and the two places we would consider living are Hamilton Or Christchurch, that is not to say there is anything wrong with anywhere else, these places just suit us better.

There are so many beautiful places acessible to you wherever in Nz you live. The hard part, and i have to say stressful, is finding a home. we have started the search in CHCH as it is practical, we drop the camper off here, and we like the area.
We are finding the rentals aliitle more expensive than we thought and with no consistancy in standards. They can be the same price and one can be horrid and one brand new, so it is confusing. They also seem to go real fast, i must admit to getting a little uptight now.

On the upside the people have been so friendly and helpful and tomorrow is a new day.

I will let you know where in NZ we are soon, it might be Taffys spare room :icon_wink: Least they have computers, or holiday inn.

Christchurch is a great place - our third choice was Kaiapoi, a seemingly favourite choice for a lot of Brits. Good choice for jobs too. ::):

I know what you mean about rentals - just keep looking and don't hesitate when you see something you know you can temporarily live in. It IS hard when you have lived in a warm, well-decorated English house. You've seen our place - $380 a week, a lot maybe but we need the space and we have seen a lot worse at that figure. Make sure you have some rooms facing north to catch the sun - helps keep heating costs down.
