Default Nothing much to talk about

Hello
I've been scouring the forum every night as usual and, as I've nothing really constructive to say to any of the posts due to being in ITA limbo land, thought I'd post for the hell of it so that people knew I was still alive and not sulking quietly.

So here I am sulking noisily! I have 5 job applications in now all with closing dates for the week I was planning to visit NZ for interviews (end of Oct). My ITA is lodged but useless without a job offer at the mo. My eldest has to sit his maths again in Nov so stuck here til then. I am now seriously thinking of going on a visa after his exam and waiting for residency when I get there.

Oh and only 28 working days to go before I become a supply teacher!

Anyway, to top it all off..............I'm still excited at the prospect of emmigrating.................am I going mad????????????? :smiley5:

Thanks for listening
Fisheress

I hear ya Fisheress. I'm in a different position but the same limbo, I guess in some ways your better off being at least part way down the line but in others I can take heart in the fact I haven't invested any money ino the process so far, EOI, ITA etc. Just ALOT of time, but hey it was all in work mostly anyway hehe.
I'd definitely go for the wild but wonderful 'go there and wait in NZ for PR to arrive' at least you can do interviews easier. Mind you not everyones as crazy as me (or Sara and Ian hehe).

Besides I'd be alone in my moping sulk if you went there. Looks like I'll miss BBQ at X-Mas now *SOB*

Fisheress, you?re only doing what I?m doing (only I?m doing a helluva lot more of it) ? posting on here for the sheer hell of it, that is. We don?t even have a foot on the immigration ladder yet to chat about, as we have to wait until 3 years have passed from when Taffy got his PR so he can sponsor me as his dear old ma. Our only thing to ?worry? about and look forward to, in respect of NZ, is our long-awaited holiday with him and our yet-to-be-met d-i-l, Welshgirl. We fly out [img:6859ee20aa]http://www.my-smileys.de/smileys2/wee_fly.gif[/img:6859ee20aa] on the night of 29/11 (11/29 for Selchie and our other American friends) going via Pakistan :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif and Bangkok and, hopefully, land in Auckland mid morning on the 1/12 (12/1). As we don?t have a TV here [img:6859ee20aa]http://www.my-smileys.de/smileys2/tv_happy.gif[/img:6859ee20aa] , I have plenty of time to hang around on the Net/forum and make naff posts (so I can play with my smileys :icon_wink: ) to pass the time.

Being The Coffee House, I don?t see why people can?t keep in touch with us while they?re hanging around waiting for the next step in their move to NZ, by posting about what?s going on in their current lives, how they?re feeling about everything ('cos they know someone on here will know just what they're talking about) or just any old stuff that they might want to discuss, ask or tell us about or something they want to rant about and get off their chest. And, as it says, it doesn?t have to be NZ related. I?ll be interested if no one else is :icon_biggrin: . I see a lot of members coming onto the forum looking for new posts to read and I feel sad for them if there isn?t anything much going on at the time, but what?s to stop them starting off a thread about something, anything? For those that are only interested in NZ stuff and haven?t got time for waffle, then they can just avoid The Coffee House. There, I?ve filled half a page without really trying (but then, that?s me, Blabber Fingers [img:6859ee20aa]http://www.my-smileys.de/smileys2/chatten.gif[/img:6859ee20aa] ). So, until that happy day when you get the news you've been waiting for [img:6859ee20aa]http://www.my-smileys.de/smileys2/mail_4.gif[/img:6859ee20aa] hang around here with me and we'll pass the time together. [img:6859ee20aa]http://www.my-smileys.de/smileys2/Bolt.gif[/img:6859ee20aa]. Awww, c'mon!

Stevey, haven?t you taken the first step towards emigrating yet? Or are you doing it backwards? From what I?ve seen, most people do the paperwork and get the thumbs up, then they sell the house last. You appear to be doing it the other way around. I had it in my head that, if your house sells, you?d be ready to go. You obviously have a plan. Maybe you?re going anyway and sorting everything out when you get there?

I'm taking a leaf out of your dear son's book Mother Bear and going on a WHV. Will only take a couple of weeks for visa to come. Only scramble enough points with a job offer, so gotta get out there in order to get job offer, hence our order of proceedings. Will apply for WHV as soon as we accept an offer. Does that explain things a bit more? ::):

Me too, I lurk about for some kind of glimmer of hope.

I telephoned NZIS last night for the first time, it was quite nerve racking.
How weird is this though whilst on the phone that 100 per cent New Zealand advert came on the tele!!!! spooky.

The lovely lady on the end said we were still in a managed pile and I was to phone about once a month for any news. If there are so many of us in limbo land why does it feel so lonely?

Come on you case officers get your fingers out.

Thanks everyone!!! I feel better already and at least tomorrow is Friday.
My job was advertised in the paper last night and I felt very excited to think that I'm actually leaving (been there 9 years........kept trying to leave....had to go half way round world to do so!).

Mother Bear! thanks for your kind words............mines an espresso. Not long to your trip now. You must be really excited especially as you haven't met welshgirl yet.

Make sure you post while you're there to let us all know what's going on.

Just imagine if you were visiting Britain, you could get lost in the system like all the other illegal immigrants we pay for and never return! You could stay in NZ forever!

Yes, thanks Stevey. Quite an adventurous way to do it, but it may well turn out for the best, as there?s nothing like a bit of face to face with potential employers. Undoubtedly you have researched plenty and know the score, so you will be as prepared as possible for what may lie ahead of you. Being relatively new on the forum I?m not quite up to speed with everyone?s status immigration-wise, so it?s helpful to catch up.

Is there any point in having a sticky at the top of one of the categories entitled ?Progress reports? where members can pop in and update whenever they move up (or down) a notch on their way forward? That way we all know how far along everyone is at a given time and can get appropriately excited towards the final lap. Just another of my futile suggestions but thought I?d stick it in anyway.

Fisheress, yes, I?m starting to gear up towards our holiday now. Itching to get packing. Just hoping the hubster can hold out until then, as his stress levels are through the roof at the moment. I?m praying he?s not going to collapse once the pressure?s off and will be comatose during his stay in Hamilton (Comatose in Hamilton, quite the opposite of Sleepless in Seattle, eh?). Still, Ramadan is looming now and after that we have the Eid al Iftar, which means a few days off work for him (or does it? He?s worked nearly every local holiday we?ve had so far). I will certainly post our adventures while we?re in NZ, if Taffy will trust me near the computer. He could see it as his only chance to keep me well away from his forum and I?ll find a thundering great padlock on the keyboard. It would be really helpful if we have some good weather and I can put on some cheery photos when the new upload site is up and running (hint, hint). Goes without saying that we wish you the best of luck with the job applications ? just bear in mind that the kiwis, being laid back as they are, don?t always rush to make decisions and get things finalised so, just because you don?t hear anything by the time you think you should have, it doesn?t necessarily mean you aren?t in the running.

Sounds like a good plan. Mine would be easy, 'house on market, waiting to apply for WHV after accepting offer.
