Hehe. I downloaded it (and all the other stuff you needed) too. Still haven't installed it yet

I did the full download and there's all sorts of buttons on there to press but they don't seem to do much. I can manoeuvre around but when I zoom in the picture is very blurred. I'll have to re-read the instructions again when I've got time but if, in the meantime, you get round to installing and working yours, any tips would be appreciated.

I'm dragging this topic up again from the bowels of the earth as Google Earth has recently added a lot more coverage of NZ. Previously it was very poor and was mainly Auckland region that was covered and maybe a couple of places on SI.

How odd that they've covered either side of Hamilton, but not the city itself. Not that I'm complaining, of course, as one of the new areas covered is Ngaruawahia and I can see our house quite plainly.

TAFFY!! Those weeds are getting out of control and the grass needs cutting.

Graeme and Tania, there's even coverage of Papatoetoe. You could have a look at the lie of the land in the area.

You can see Ngaruawahia and Papatoetoe?? Did you download a newer version of Google Earth or something, because I can't find those places on the one I have?? :017:

Right, I've found Ngaruawahia - couldn't get to find the place in search, but I searched for NZ, then had a wander with the mouse until I found Hamilton, then Ngaruawahia - wonder why it didn't come up on a search then?

Oh well, mine won't go close enough to see much more than the outline of our old car >:(

Amazing resolution for Auckland, ChCh, and Wellington ... not quite so good for Hamilton, though. :(

BTW, you've said so many good things about Hamilton, it's moving up my list of places to look into settling ... Wellington still being #1, though.

It's definitely NZs up and coming city. Will be really happening in a few years for sure. The climates a big plus also.

It just seems rather ironic for me to move to an island nation literally on the other side of the globe in order to live in a land-locked city! :icon_eek: My dream is to wake up in the morning, look out my window, and see the ocean. :sigh: Around here, an ocean view will cost at least $750,000 US.

For some strange reason they haven't included Hamilton city in their recent update. It's still low resolution so you can't pick out more than the fuzzy outlines of buildings and fields. I was very surprised they'd included Ngaruawahia as, apart from being the home of the Maori queen, it isn't what you'd call a big metropolis.

WG, I've heard people talking about seeing the plants in their gardens (that was in the place where we had our Spanish house), but I don't see it myself. It doesn't go anywhere near that close. I found it great for taking a bird's eye view of the properties and area surrounding the house. The Waipa River that runs just beyond the bottom of our land looks like it's in flood, as there's what appears to be bushes or trees and spits of land in the middle of the water. Also looks like the river is quietly eating its way towards our boundary. No wonder they don't allow you to build near the river.
