Default You know you live in Auckland when ....

You can make over $100,000 per year and still can't afford a house.
You never bother looking at the train timetable because you know the drivers have never seen it either.
You order organic fruit and vegetables online, but eat out every night anyway.
You spend more money on your coffee machine than on your washing machine.
You spend $400+ per week for your room in an apartment with stunning harbour and beach views and European appliances; and spend a total of forty hours a week there, of which thirty-seven are spent sleeping.
You contemplate calling a taxi from your home to where you managed to park your car the night before.
You spend thirty minutes in a traffic jam next to a car that has more power going to its speakers than its wheels.
You know everyone's e-mail and mobile number but not their last name or home address.
You can roll sushi, make pasta and keep your red curry paste recipe under lock and key... but couldn't roast a chicken to save your life.
Your taxi driver was a micro-surgeon before he immigrated to New Zealand
Your co-worker tells you he/she has eight body piercing but none are visible.
You can't remember... is dope illegal?
You've been to more than one baby shower that has two mothers and a sperm donor.
You have a very strong opinion on where your coffee beans are grown, and can taste the difference between Sumatran and Ethiopian.
A really great parking space can move you to tears.
You are thinking of taking an adult class but you can't decide between yoga, conversational Italian or building your own website.
You are genuinely surprised when you meet someone who was actually born in Auckland.
Your hairdresser is straight; your plumber is gay, and your Avon lady is a drag queen

No, but 30 minutes next to some pillock with more power going to his speakers than his wheels is just not funny!

And no doubt, they would have an exhaust louder than the stereo too.

you're just showing your age Taffy..

Don't tell me you never bombed about the mean streets of Swansea in your Mark 2 Capri with the windows down blaring S'Express or Yazz or some such dancey type effort....

I bet welshgirl has the photo's to prove it...

Sorry Craig, but I haven't!

Firstly, I may have owned a MkII Capri, but I got it for engine spares for my poor old rattly Sierra Ghia!

Secondly, Swansea was a little too far to go for that kind of escapade!

And lastly, S'Express and Yazz? Oh PLEASE!!! Some credit!!!

I would just like to add that I have no incriminating photos of Taffy whatsoever, as a boy-racer or otherwise...... :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif

I cannot comment on the loud music as Taffy often has to ask me to turn my music down a decibel or two while we're driving :icon_redface:

Hope your trip back to Wales goes well..

Have a safe trip..

It'll be interesting to hear if the things you thought you missed were all that worth missing and if there's anything you miss about NZ while you're all back here.

You better bring some big coats with you if the weather in Wales is anything like the weather in Scotland.
It's been bloody cold the last couple of days..
Lauren asked us to put the heating on last night at bedtime as she was so cold..

have a good trip..

Thanks Craig :icon_biggrin:

We'll definitely keep everyone updated as to whether there's anything we do/don't miss!

Pity about the weather - better have a rethink of my suitcase packing then :icon_frown: - bl**dy British weather :icon_mad:. Still, it'll be spring by the time I get back to NZ, so weather should be improving here by then ::):
