Default Returning from NZ

I don't know if anyone else has found this, but much to the delight of a few people, I am constantly reminded that people do come back from OZ or NZ.

As much as I appreciate the separation of family becoming too much, or the culture shock of living in a new country just too difficult, I had never heard this one............... They came back because they was nothing good on the telly! :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif

Speechless!

The amount of commercial breaks almost makes we want to come home sometimes :icon_confused:

Telly is pretty naff here, but that's not what NZ is all about - if you need to watch telly to keep you occupied, you've come to the wrong country!

We hardly ever watch tv here so it won't bother us at all. The kids have their films on DVD anyway, which I prefer, at least you moniter what they are watching!

Well married to the only cable TV installer who doesn't even own a TV let alone have cable TV, I don't think it will bother us either.

Sara

Those people who came back because there was nothing good on telly didnt deserve to be in NZ! We met some people in Keswick one weekend who were appauled that there was nothing to see in the Borrowdale valley at night, it was all dark............. :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif . Modern day life has alot to answer for!

"what did you expect to see from a torquay boarding house window...?
Herd of roaming wildebeast' perhaps.."

There's a question,,,

What is the kiwi sense of humour like...

Would they get "The Office" and things like "Fawlty Towers"?

or does the irony fly over their heads in the same way it does our American Brethern,,,

Bo Selecta & Little Britain have gone down at treat with my brother's work mates......."shaamooaa" has replaecd "hows it going" as a work place greeting. And of course "yeah..but...no...but" echos round the warehouse of Carters builders Merchant, Nelson. Infact if anyone is in nelson go to Carters, ask for Mike and give him a bit of Michael Jackson Bo Selecta style.

Black adder and all the good old BBC stuff was on sky when we were there as well.
