Default IT jobs for Lions in Auckland

Saw a news story on NZ TV yesterday. It said that recruitment agencies for IT companies are pulling British Lion fans of the street and asking if they work in IT, and asking them to apply to stay in Auckland. There is supposedly a 4'500 shortfall in IT employees in Auckland.

Just thought this might interest anyone thinking of moving on a job offer within IT.

Well if they are that desperate for IT staff in Aukland, hopefully they are pretty desperate elsewhere. Much though I want to go to NZ, I have no wish to work in such a big (and expensive) place. it's chch for me

I don't mind cold winters, it is the UK damp I hate, and it will still be warmer in chch than the UK. I like snow and like the idea of being an hour or two drive from the ski fields as well

We're in Auckland, and coming from Scotland, i'm still finding the cold here at nights a bit too much. There is no central heating which you kinda get used to in the UK. If your going to chch I would suggest you bring plenty sweaters and a big thick duvet. During the days are similar to a scottish summer, but the nights are definitely cold!!!

at risk of going off topic..

I think everything that is wromg with this country can be traced back to 3 things..

The abolition of national service.
The widespread intoduction of central heating
and the widespread use of duvets..

I will fight the installation of central heating when we get there..

I'm reminded of the Billy Connolly sketch....

Mammy .. Mammy... he's stickling his legs in the sleeves of the duvet,,,,,

Back on topic...

Glad to hear that Auckland winter is same as Scotland summer..
Thats what i was hoping for..

off topic?? umm, slightly.... how did The Lions, beer and the weather remind you of the abolition of national service? :icon_confused: lol - but as we're on the subject, yes i thoroughly agree with you!

And central heating I can live without so feel free to fight your cause on that one, but please don't object to my duvet.... :icon_cry:
