Default IT jobs for Lions in Auckland

LOL...

read a few posts up to midders comments..

I'l probably stick to the duvet's too..
How are you all finding life in New Zealand at the moment with the influx of Lions fans..?

I guess the bulk will be arriving over the next week or so before the first test next weekend?

What's the media coverage been like?
Are the fans getting some good coverage?

The Lions tour is massive news over here - much hyped with tv ads, posters, radio ads, etc....! The match next weekend is in Christchurch so the main influx of fans will be going to the SI! From what I can gather, there has been a great atmopsphere between the All Blacks fans and Lions fans with loads going on in and around the town centres, in fact one of the forum members was in town the night the Maoris played the Lions in Hamilton, and apparently it was a cracking atmosphere ::): Can't say I've heard of any negative comments about the Lions fans - everyone seems to have been well behaved!

I can vouch for the Lions tour being great - we went to the Lions v Wellington match at the Westpac (cake tin!) stadium, and it was great! I left work at 5:30pm and met Daz outside and planned to go to the pub for a bevvie or 2 before the match (theres 4 pubs opposite/next to where I work in the city - VERY handy!! :icon_wink: ) and we couldn't get in any of them cos they were full! We were shocked! NEVER have we not been able to get in anywhere - wow! The streets were packed with people walking towards the stadium with their red or yellow and black (the Wellington Lions' colours - confusing yes - we were supporting the BRitish Lions of course!) and the atmosphere was brilliant.

As we couldn't get into the pubs, we headed towards the stadium and once we were there Daz got his obligatory 4 pack of Speights in, and I had a bottle of wine (mini one that is!) from the bar, and we watched the British Lions warm up (with me drooling over O'Driscoll and Wilkinson! he he he!!).

It was a great game (better because we won of course!) and we're looking forward to the tests, although we haven't got tickets for those so to the pub (very early!) it will be!

So yeah, I can vouch for the tour being a success so far - the 40,000 fans in the Westpac Stadium (and probably the same amount in the pubs!) all seemed to be enjoying it.

Bring on the All Blacks!

Jodie
