I know i need to get my MSN set up I'll do that when we settle over there as we might sell our computer in the next few weeks then we are living with mum till we set off. Thank god she has a computer or I would have to go cold turkey!

I have just seen a thread on points and possible increase, we would be stuffed if they put them up drastically while we were there. We are taking a big risk! I havn't even looked properly how many we would have if we were there with a job I just knew it was over 100. We would have to extend w permit and get 2 years experience!

It might be worth you trying to work out how many points you'd have with a job offer, so you know what you're aiming for, but to be honest, if the points threshold did go up, it would only be temporary and would in all likelyhood go back down again within a few months, in order for NZ to meet their migrant quota. So don't worry about it too much - even if you haven't got enough points, you can just extend your work permit until the points come back down again.

'm ok really we won't panic too much.

I want the house to go through now so I can book the flights. It will start to be real then.

Our 14 nearly 15 year old cried when we told her we would be leaving, in all probability Sept/Oct, difficult age. She seems abit more positve now though. She has a new boyfriend and a that age they think it's the end of the world to leave. Having said that i don't want to underestimate how she feels, I met Ian when I was just 16 so it can work out I guess.

Yes, when you book the flights, things will start to feel real then.... Don't be surprised if you have a few 'Oh my God, what are we doing?!' moments before you leave :icon_wink:
I'm sure your daughter will be fine - of course, it's a huge step for anyone who is old enough to appreciate what changes will be happening in their life - I should imagine it's harder for a teenager to cope with than it is a young child..... She will thank you for it in the end though, when she has a fab life in NZ! ::):
And, of course, you can always tempt her with a good old NZ knees up on the beach at Christmas :icon_wink:

that's encouraging ::): being that I'm still a teenager --the thought of leaving my best friend behind is kinda disturbing but hey, it'll be a couple years before anything concrete happens.
