Books are HOW MUCH!!!!!

Had a browse in Dymocks website and another major nz bookseller and it amazed me how much the fiction books were, eg Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code ordinary pb was advertised at $26, thats ?10! That's expensive, double what I'd expected when you think of the wage difference. I thought Enzeders were avid readers, do they just resign themselves to paying that money or is there some other trick keeping them in books?

The problem with books here, is that most of them are imported, and bought in low volume, so attract higher prices.

Music CD's range from $5 in the bargain bins to $35ish. DVD's are mostly around $30 from somwhere like The Warehouse, and things like PS2 or PC games can be from $40 to over $100.

You're better off joining a library, you can borrow DVD's, magazines, videos, (as well as books of course) from them :icon_biggrin:

For the more expensive, reference type books we just order through amazon.co.uk and had had no problems, they arrive on the doorstep in around 5-7 days.

There is also an amazing warehouse of a bookshop in Birkenhead which sells kids books (I've seen the Da Vinci Code in there too) at close to UK prices and we get all the kid's books from there. They also have a website but I've never ordered through that, much prefer to visit and spend time choosing. www.wheelers.co.nz
