They don't like rock much here in Auckland. At least the part I'm in, South Auckland. More Hip Hop and R&B. When I was in ChCh I didn't hear much pop at all. Mostly rock. Pink Floyd, some Creed, Metallica. :icon_biggrin: Kinda think of it, the cop had some rock playing in his car too.

Hey, thats true. I have NEVER heard groups like that here, nor heard of them touring. I think there is a strong reggae background to NZ music from the North Island, and rock / punk from the Dunedin roots.

Personally I gave up on kiwi music once the infromation heavy and musically deficient hip hop scene came in. The best music was all last century :) . I listen to the National program, pretty well exclusivly now, especially with the awesome Kim Hill on saturday morning...

Is Bic Runga popular over there? musically I mean. She did slag off NZ a few months ago for being racist and it didn't go down too well. I think she's great.

Never heard of her, but her comment was interesting.

Racism is one of those funny kinda topics here... There's no doubt that racism exists here. In fact its quite prevailant in some places. But dont dare let an outsider make such a comment!
