I'm originally from Cardiff and Taffy's from Pontypool, but we've been living in Newport for the last 7 months. How about you?

glenn is originally from pontypool,me from blaenavon(born and bred)glenn moved up there with me about 12yrs ago and loved it. as i work in pontypool and glenn was starting his training, decided to sell up and move lower down the valley.what a big mistake,having lived in sad sebastopol :( for 2yrs cant wait to leave. what a difference in people and such a miserable lot. if not for the fact that we are going to nz would have moved back to blaenavon . there,s a lot to be said of true valleys people. anyway that,s my moaning over speak soon, bye for now.

My name is Tom and I live in California.

My wife, Suzi and I visited New Zealand in Fall 2002. We made a few friends among the British Sports Car crowd, toured a lot of the North Island (you gotta love those Holiday Parks!) and some of the South Island (down to CHCH and over to Greymouth).

We have been following the immigration service programs and changes ever since we got back to the States. The magic number is getting closer... almost close enough to immigrate without a job offer, but not quite.

Being a diesel mechanic, I would fall into one of the occupational shortages areas. I could go into heavy construction or to the railways (I currently repair locomotives). Being a vocational education degree holder, and former instructor, I probably would be at home in a polytechnic environment.

At present, we have no real preference for where in NZ we would locate, but Suzi is an avocado person and Northland seems best for that climate.

Thanks for listening, posting, and causing us to think and rethink what it is we want.

Well, our front room now has a large map of New Zeland hanging on one wall and we've told all our parents. It is official that we're hoping to emigrate to NZ in Spetember 2005 - just over a year. What is really exciting is that Zoe has an unofficial job offer - she's a nurse and so in great demand it seems. We've already spoken to a Recruitment Officer of one of the District Health Boards who has conifrmed that if Zoe applies next January the job offer will be there! Gives us a whopping 180 points! Hopefully I'll be able to secure a teaching job (primary) when we arrive. Hurrah! :D

My name is Lawrence. I am a NZ/English mix my dad from NZ and my mum from the UK. I am looking to move down to NZ sometime in mid 05 to live and work. I am just going about getting my NZ passport and looking into sorting out a visa for my girlfriend who is Spanish. I have lots of relatives in NZ and am looking to work in or around Auckland as I feel that?s where the jobs will be(my line of work is in logistics).
If anyone can give me any advice on visas for my partner or help in work finding it would be great. :icon_mrgreen:

Your partner may qualify under the Partnership policy, you dont have to be married just show you have a stable relationship.(she would be the partner of a N.Z.citizen) Not to sure about her spanish side of things though.If you can do it under this policy its a peice of cake, no pionts or anything to deal with.My husband is just waiting for an answer from them under it :icon_razz:

Well, were from Staffordshire, Im married to Jamie, an Engineer who will be the main applicant. Im currently stuyding for a degree in English Literature with the intention of teaching secondary school. We have two children Amelia 7 and Alexander 3.

My name is Debbie, my partner is Pete, and we have twin girls aged 3 yrs. We are hoping to move to NZ in the next couple of months...really hoping it's gonna be before xmas :icon_biggrin:

Pete is a psychiatric nurse and has accepted a job at the Hawkes Bay District Health Board, have 'sold' the house, just waiting for 2 more surveys to be done in our chain, then looking for some possible dates for exchange...but hey with the property game that could be months away..but hope not :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif

So how did I hear about this site....well Steve (netwriter) was doing his magic again!! Found out about it from one of Steve's posts on another forum...and I also notice that this is a link on his web-site too!!

Looks like you will have to start paying Steve after all ..Taffy!!! :icon_lol:
