[quote:cc0ab2bd81="Milliemoo"]Hi Cal,

Emirates are good, as are Singapore. It's the route that you need to think about. If you go via LA you get 62kg luggage allowance each (double - regardless of airline). The downside being you have to go through LA :icon_sad:

Once you've chosen the airline, join their FF club to see what advantages you get (free) and also go to www.seatguru.com to see what seats are best. :icon_biggrin:

I wish you hadn't mentioned Westies! :icon_razz: I LOVE WESTIES. Frodo says I can have one when we get to NZ, but I'm worried there won't be any breeders out there :icon_sad: I don't want to get a wee puppy and then put it through the flight.

Hi Milliemoo,

Still struggling with the replies section of this website - don't seem to be getting notifications although I have requested them :icon_confused:

Anyhoo... my mum-in-law, otherwise known affectionately as "the old dragon" will be only too please to find out if there are any breeders close to you... they have connections world wide! Plus she MIGHT let you have one of her pup's. The reason I'm not 100% on that, is cause she normally insists on meeting prospective owners etc.

Apparently there should be some new pups very soon!

[quote:c03b2769c2="Welshgirl"]Hey Cal,

Welshgirl here (Taffy's other half!). Sorry if I've missed it on one of your previous postings, but I was just wondering how old your children are? Four of the blighters is a lot to manage on a long haul flight like that! I came over by myself with our four year old daughter in tow. She coped remarkably well but did require a lot of attention! I took plenty for her to do but there were still moments when she'd just about had enough! Fortunately we only had a 2 hour stopover in Los Angeles, and by the time we got through immigration and into the transit lounge, it was time to get back on the plane!

I flew with Air New Zealand and they were pretty good with the kids - provided some goodies and special kids meals for her. You might also find (depending on the ages of your children.....) that you get fast-tracked through a lot of the queues like we did, so it's not all bad, travelling with little 'uns! :icon_wink:

Anyway, good luck with the dog problem - can't help you with that one sorry!

Best of luck with the move :icon_biggrin:

Hi ya Welshgirl,

Great to hear from you, I think I need to get my hubby posting on this site... he doesn't know what he is missing!

I have two girls ages 14 and 12 (soon to be 13 on 5th Jan) and two boys aged 10 and 9. They are quite good at the flying experience as we have done loads of reccies in Europe etc. for prospective new homes over the last few years and we have always had the kids in tow. That's before we decided once and for all on NZ of course.

We have booked our flights now with Emirates, which is more or less direct; Manchester to Dubai and then a couple of hours in Dubai before we head off to Auckland on the last leg of the journey.

We were offered Air New Zealand via LA, and very nearly went for it until I questioned the in transit immigration requirements with the travel agent (I have heard a few horror stories of being stuck like cattle in holding areas) - he told me that it wouldn't be a problem because we wouldn't be getting off the plane... can you imagine? with four kids! "ee must av bin avin a larf" :icon_twisted:

Must admit it does get easier with the kids (flight wise anyway) as mine are all old enough to keep themselves busy with game boys and movies - however with 6 of us travelling, the girls tend to have seats to themselves which does make it virtually impossible to monitor what movies they are watching. I would recommend a parental control button myself... caught the 12 year old watching Love Actually on the flight at Easter and if you have seen it you will know exactly why I have made that statement. :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif

Hopefully the dogs will be sorted thanks to this and other forums I have visited; it seems that most recommendations posted have been for a company called "Golden Arrow" so I have asked them for a price... I will keep you informed of what it comes out at.

Take care,
Cal ::):

Hi Maxon :icon_biggrin:

Welcome to this great forum :icon_biggrin:

I'm sure someone will be along to answer the post in the other section soon. There are a fair few Americans who post here.
Good luck with your research.
