You'd think that after the last year of waiting for our New Zealand residency to come thought, I'd have learnt a little patience?
Nope!
This week I have been waiting on the verdict of 2 job interviews. Every morning I eagerly open the email account and nowt, and each evening I've sat waiting for my mobile phone to ring.
There are 2 potential jobs, one in Wellington and the other in Auckland. I've even come around to the fact that we might end up in Auckland as the job sounds like a fantastic opportunity .. that is, assuming I ever get offered it.
The Wellington job, is for a smaller company, but sounds as though it is just up my street AND it's not Auckland! I really want it, but am trying so hard not to get my hopes up, just to get them dashed.
So, am summoning up all my "hurry-up vibes" and willing these peeps to make their minds up.
Even if it's a "no", I need to know .. and now!!
Ho - hum .. off to busy myself with thoughts of packing, cleaning and leaving party organising ....

I'm affraid you will have to get used to the waiting- the Kiwis don't rush for anything- infact Neil has only just heard today that he has an interview for a job he applied for over a month ago.

I wonder if these potential employers have any idea what they put job candidates through. All the waiting and worrying when there's so much at stake and you're trying to get your new life on track.
Lou and Beth, I really hope something breaks for you both very soon. It's about time these employers got their fingers out. |

Well, some of the impatience can halt .. as I didn't get the Wellington job :-(
Am very disappointed to say the least. Holding out now for the job in Auckland, and if that's a no, means we head to Christchurch, which is where we really wanted to settle anyway. |

Bad luck, Lou, but there will be a special job for you somewhere. Fate has a way of steering you towards your destiny in ways we don't always, at first, agree with. Maybe Chch is meant for you.

Thanks MB ... after the initial disappointment had passed, that was exactly my thought - that we were meant to head to Christchurch! I have always been a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.
So today, I have been planning our trip south. Have found some suitable accomodation in Rotorua, and Palmerston North. Now, do you think Palmerston north -> XCH is too much in one day? If so, where should we plan the last stop over? |

I second MB. I beleive these things happen for a reason - Chch is the place for you. We intended to head towards Timaru or Dunedin then the Chch job came up and made our minds up for us. Probably be the same for you.

It is a lot more laid back here guys. They don't rush about anything. The malarchy at Alcatel that Beth has experienced is a bit different I think because someone has had to wait for someone who's had to wait for someone who's had to wait for someone to give the nod. None of it is personal, they just assume that while you're waiting you'll be chillin at the beach making the most of your down time like they do or just getting on with the job you already have. When you come here, you have to understand the way they do things. If you want everything done now, now, now then you are going to be in a constant state of anxiety because it just doesn't happen.
