Balloons over Waikato

I'm bubbling with excitement from yesterday so I thought I'd start my very first blog so I don't bore Taff with it any more 
Last night, my daughter, some friends and myself went to watch the Balloons over Waikato show at the University in Hamilton. For the last few days, I've been mesmerized by the hot air balloons floating over the city. The star of the show was a Darth Vader balloon! Last night was called 'Night Glow' and basically all the balloons that have been around, congregate in the University field and light up in synchronisation to orchestra music - it was magical
To top it all off, there was a fab fireworks display at the end. The atmosphere there was awesome, absolutely thousands of people there - the biggest crowd ever apparently 
I can't wait for next years event - in fact, I can't believe I've never been before!

That's one of the things at the top of my list of 'must dos' when I finally get to live in NZ. I would love to see the show. I think I posted about it last year, but no one seemed to have seen it.

Looks great - love the pink house balloon. We have a balloon festival near us - in Northampton. I've never been but the kids have and loved it. Would love to go up in a balloon. Must be a wonderful experience.

Hmm, that didn't come out as nicely as I'd have liked
 What I meant, of course, was: Wow KG, I'd be honoured if you came with us next year, what an absolute delight In fact, if you don't come with us next time, I shall find a corner to sit in and cry We would love to have you along, it wouldn't be the same without you  |

Oh yeah the Night Glow!! I watched it at Wairarapa on March and it was great! The fireworks displayed was 'generous'!

Good stuff! When I lived in Sonoma County, I got to be ground crew for a one-man balloon company. It was volunteer work, but I got several free rides out of it. It was a lot of fun. Never got to see a night glow, though.
