Wow they look amazing. We used to keep bees to pollinate our melon crops in NZ and I never really got used to them, although my dad would wonder up and down between the rows of melons in bare feet. The honey was amazing, especially when drizzled on bread fresh out of the oven....now that brings back some great childhood memories.

I don't know that I'll be dancing in melon patches barefooted, but I'm rather comfortable with them. It's not everybody's cuppa, which is fine. That way, my bees have the run of the neighborhood.
I wish I'd taken up beekeeping years ago. |

Nah, they're fine near a home. One shouldn't have the hive entrance near a major walkway, but they're far too busy to bother about people.
I might be crazy, but not because of the bees ; ) |
