House Sold at Last
Posted 14-08-2008 at 09:19 AM by nickydwuk
After much chasing (about 4 weeks) of buyers, solicitors, agents and surveyors our buyers have finally paid the deposit and we should exchange contracts later this week. At last we can relax knowing that the house has officially been sold and we can get on with the boring stuff such as packing up and flying to NZ
Now I know why we have never moved - selling a house is so stressful I'm surprised we haven't come to blows.
We have spent so much time waiting to get to this point that I thought OH would be as excited as I was when I heard - but no. His next worry is that although the buyers have paid a deposit (which they would lose if they dropped out) and the contracts will be exchanged, theoretically they could still pull out and leave us in the lurch Arrrrrgh. I know he is cautious but not this much!! I had to walk out of the room otherwise I might have said something I would regret. He has mellowed a little now and is as happy as I am.
How will I cope in NZ with him when he has his 'worry' head on? I think I will just disappear up the mountain or on the beach to chill

Great about the house Nicky- got there eventually.
i'm in no doubt there will be plenty more worrying ahead but at leats you have the main worries sorted- Visas and Job. He will just have to learn to go with the flow of things. Not long now. |

Its seems a lot longer than 4 weeks. Seems to have been going on forever. Thank goodness it's almost done and dusted now.
Maybe being in NZ will be a good thing for Adrian if he can succumb to the laid-back kiwi life. It might make a new man of him if he can learn to relax and chill out. Can't wait to hear his thoughts on NZ after all his earlier doubts. |

I knew things were too good to last - our buyers deposit had to be returned as it was not from their account (their dad is paying it for them)
. We have now had to wait another week while they transfer the funds to their account. They finally paid the cheque to the solicitor yesterday. Now we have to wait until next week for it to clear and then we can exchange. With our leaving date getting closer it is getting more nerve wracking by the day. I haven't told OH as he would just lose the plot again. Ignorance is bliss in his case. I keep telling myself it will all work out in the end. I just hope that is true. |

I'm sure all will work out fine Nicky. Once you've exchanged it will be all go from there. Try not to worry too much and enjoy your last few weeks.

If something has to go wrong, let's hope that was it, and nothing else. I'd hate to see you leave without the Hubby.

I am just looking on the bright side - if I tell myself it will work out alright - it will. The power of positive thought!!

Definitely. I'm just superstitious enough to knock wood & hope there aren't any stray energies that might want to throw a spanner into the works. Still happy dancing for you.
