Well, where do I start? I'm a returning Kiwi, I left NZ nearly 10 years ago and I've sponsored my Yorkshire hubby, my two kids have got dual nationality so we're all sorted on the Visa front.
Our house is under offer and the survey is taking place tomorrow, so please keep your fingers crossed for me. We should know the results of the survey sometime next week and will know then if our buyers are going to proceed with the sale. They are first time buyers so are quite nervous and we have an old terrace, I'm not expecting anything to crop up though. They have already paid for the survey and all the searches so seem quite keen.
We've negotiated a four week delay between exchanging contracts and completion which should give us time to sell our furniture, hand in notice at work and book flights.
Hopefully we'll be exchanging contracts in about 4 weeks.
I've already been looking at rental houses in NZ and have found two holiday lets close to my family and have been in contact with the owners, so we should have sorted out somewhere to live when we do finally get there.
I'm too scared to tell my mum that we're under offer just in case it falls through and am feeling very deceitful because I was talking to her the other day and didn't mention it at all. It's amazing how mothers can make you feel guilty without even trying.
I guess I'll add more once we've had the results of the survey.

I'll hold my breath that the sale goes through this time. What a relief it will be when it's all done and dusted.
Don't stress too much about your mum. Think how delighted she'll be when you tell her it's all gone through. Just say you didn't want to tempt fate by telling her (or anyone else) too soon. Good luck with it all. |
