6 month update!

Well we have officially been here 6 months.
I have no idea where the time has gone.
Well we took a gamble on quitting jobs selling up our home and jumping on a plane with no jobs, no visas, no friends and whatever we could sqeeze into our cases. Well i'm glad to say the gamble paid off. Not quite all the way there yet but almost.
We arrived in Wellington in March to fantastic weather and fell in love with the place. The people are so different to where we came from the atmosphere around is great and the scenery- WOW.
I can sit here and honsetly say I haven't missed the UK at all (friends and family yes but the UK itself- no way!) and just feel so at home here.
Most of you know it took Neil quite a while to get a job offer and we were almost giving up hope on being able to stay here when things came good. Had no probs getting a work permit and was then able to get Jessica into school and start working on our new life. 2 months down the road and Jessica is very well settled into school and loving it, Neil is slowly getting there with the job and Jasmin and myself are settling into quite a nice little routine. The house we have is fantastic and more than we could have ever dreamed of living in back in the UK, we;ve got fantastic views, I can walk to school and get to walk along the beach.
Our residency application is cirrently on route to London so hopefully within a few weeks we will have the all important Residency stickers so we know we really can stay here forever.
I am 100% sure we made the right decision- yes it's been hard work and stressful at times with so much uncertainty but I wouldn't change a thing. Life is gonna be so much better for the girls here and I so wish I had been able to grow up somewhere like this.
We are hoping for a long and happy future here in NZ and so far things are going just the way we hoped.
Good luck to everyone who is going through it- i know it isn't for everyone but for us there is no way we will go back to live in the UK by choice. The hard work really is worth it and we're really looking forward to watch our children 'flourish' here.

6 months? It's been 6 months already?!
Blimey, where does the time go?
Well, that's a fab post Beth and we're really glad to hear you have no regrets. I feel the same as you do, about the UK - apart from family, there is nothing I miss about it, especially the state it's in at the moment, from what I hear

We really do need to sort something- can't have those South Islanders getting one over on us being able to arrange a get together.
I will have to get Neil to see what holidays he can build up and maybe we can head up your way for a weekend. Look at me inviting my family to your house- ah well if you don't ask you don't get eh?Posted 02-10-2008 at 07:56 PM by ebianca
