An annoyed Mother!!!

Well we were having a fairly good day today.

On our way out today I had an arguement with Jessica who wanted to take a toy out with us in the car- after a while I gave in and said yes (this is relevant to the story honest).

Got a call about lunchtime to say we can have the rental house we wanted and arranged to go to the office at 4:30 to sign for it.

We decided to take a trip to Porirua to spend some money. We spent a few hours in Harvey Norman looking at everything and decided to buy our sofa, beds and dining suite.

On leaving the shop and getting in the car Jessica says 'I need Roger!'

Roger is her little pink bunny she has had since the day she was born, he was kept very safe so he didn't go misisng in the prepertaions for the move to NZ and he made it safe and sound.

So after walking around Harvey Norman for the afternnon she managed to put him down somewhere and leave him.

After letting her reflect on what she had done for a few mins Neil decided to take her back into the shop (in quite a state) to search for him. Now this is a huge shop which had been fairly busy. Needless to say they didn't manage to find him but have left a phone number incase he turns up.

Any other of her toys I wouldn't have been too bothered but Roger has been like part of Jessica and has been her special toy since she was born and now he's gone!!

Oooer, Beth. That's a sad story . I guess Jessica couldn't remember where she last had him? Perhaps he slipped down and out of sight between the furniture pieces and the cleaners might find him. Hope he hasn't been 'lifted' and has gone to a new home.

I dare say Jessica has learnt a big lesson today and we'll all hope for a speedy return of Roger to his rightful home. He has to come home in time for the big move.

How upsetting for Jessica and annoying for you. I can understand your frustration and even anger. Hope Jessica settles.<My daughter had a pink rabbit she had from birth. Unfortunately she never lost it in the shop but ...... the dog ate it!!! Needless to say she was heartbroken. We were abloe to distract her and eventually my dad found her another toy that she has to this day (she is now 18 and still takes it to bed - apparently it will be in her hand luggage on the plane!!!).

Our tyke is the same, I daren't say the number of items that have been left somewhere, never to be seen again - including shoes (kiwi thing - watch out for this in the future!).

Oh dear - I really hope Roger turns up, and soon!

Both my children have comfort toys, and we've had a few panics when they've been left in shops so you have my every sympathy. Thankfully they've always been recovered, but I know they wouldn't sleep without them!

Well he hasn't turned up yet so can't see him doing. We might be going back in the shop this week to order white goods and tv etc so will ask again but not holding out much hope.

Beth, I completely empathise. Poppy did exactly the same thing! She had a white lamb from the 'Bear Factory' that her Grandma bought her for her first Xmas when she was 5 weeks old. Lamby was her favouritist favourite, she slept with him, played with him, I know you know what I mean and one day when we were out shopping for furniture not long after we got here, she did exactly the same thing. The one difference was, she didn't realise she didn't have him until she went to bed that night. After searching the house we realised she must have left lamby in one of the several shops we'd visited that day! God, a dam couldn't have held back her tears! We went back to all of the shops the day after but, like you, failed to find him She was so sad for days....

A few weeks later we went out on a day trip to Whangamata in the Coromandel and found another lamb in a gift shop. It wasn't the same, Poppys was white and this one was brown but I knew as soon as I saw it she'd love it. It was so soft. We bought it and put it away for her November birthday. You should have seen her face when she opened it! She cried. Tears of pure joy. It truly has replaced the original lamby, she takes it everywhere with her. She suggested though, that whenever we go out she leaves him either at home or in the car. A lesson learned the hard way but learned never the less.
