I do think - it's the same in Australia - that compared to the UK women in this part of the world are a lot more 'equal' with men when it comes to dating. I lived in London for a number of years and I always found it strange that any time I tried to have a conversation with a man he seemed to think it was an invitation for sex.
I also found it strange that I would be at the pub with a few Australian friends (female) and some English guys, and the only time we saw their girlfriends was when they came to pick them up and take them home.
I think what this guy doesn't get is that down here at the end of the world we don't bother much with all the male/female games. I think that openness people are happy to discover when they move to New Zealand is something that extends to all situations - in bars and cafes, for example. Women here would die if they realised people from the UK expected that casual conversations were an invitation for something much more.
They're different cultures, and both are fine. But this moron making sweeping generalisations about the entire female population of a country (about their appearance in particular) is downright wrong. That's the kind of attitude that makes you want to tell someone to go back where they came from.
