The cars will have to go through compliance before you can register them, which costs around $350NZ I think (not including any repairs they ask for), then you have to pay for the registration of the vehicle, which is roughly another $240 including registration fees for 6 months or $340 for 12 months. After that you just pay normal rego fees and WOF's every 6 months.

I would say it's probably not worth bringing the Telstar as when you've added up shipping, compliance and registration, it may not be worth it. But, if it's a great reliable car and you love it, then it's really a matter of personal choice!! 1992 Telstars in NZ are worth roughly $3000 for a good example, if that helps.
