When hubby started work 2 weeks ago,er nobody told us about the ird number thingy.
So he then gets told fill one out and send it to them as you get taxed at 48 or something percent
So thinking its fairly straightforward procedure hubby takes couple hrs of yesterday morning and we head into inland revenue place.
The lovely guy at the counter said,we need your passport to photocopy and send away and the whole thing will be sorted out in 48hrs
Hubby tells him that his passport is in immigration as he is sponsering me for a work permit
He said should be no problem getting it of immigration as its only a photocopy so they can have it back.
Ok so we run all the way from i.r to immigration. To be told that the woman who is dealing with my case is on her lunch,but the guy took our cell and told us he would leave her a note,which he wrote in front of us saying URGENT
We then come home and at 4ish hubby phones immigration to see whats going on .Again woman cannot be found,so e-mail is left
So i check bank today online and nearly died.Hubbys pay is well and truly halfed
Its bad enough just now as hes only on training wage,which aint great.
So i phoned immigration and again spoke to a lovely helpful woman(they are good with you on the phone though,must admit)
And she then told me that due to huge backlog in Chch my application,including hubbys passport has been sent to wait for it.........

I nearly choked,and if the poor wee Kiwi at the end of the phone had trouble understanding my Glaswegian at the beginning,well she was totally knackered at the end of the call
What a blooming nightmare
So looks like beans on toast for dinners for couple weeks
