I'm a nurse and I'm trying to get there as fast as I can! The worst part is wading through all the stuff the New Zealand Council of Nursing wants. I have been a nurse for 30 years, and I had to go back to my school and have them figure out how many hours of clinical this and classroom that I had back in 1974-1976! Luckily, the school, which is now a college, has an assistant dean that was one of my instructors. She found the old brochure that listed everything we did, and figured it all out. Then I had to get someone to write something confirming I have been working as a nurse for more than 450 hours in the past three years.I had to request verification from the Ohio Board of Nursing that I really am a nurse, and three letters of reference. I have one of three of them back. Another police certificate. On and on.
I found out yesterday all of my paperwork was received by the Department of Immigration and I am in the system! Just waiting for a case manager, a temporary work permit and my passport and I'll be on my way over! Looks like there are lots of jobs and as soon as I get everything tidied up with the CON I'll be able to work.
