Default Cost of Living comparisons

Check out Mercer at Moscow tops in cost of living; London close behind
Their survey covers ..... "143 cities across six continents and measures the comparative cost of over 200 items in each location, including housing, transport, food, clothing, household goods and entertainment. It is the world?s most comprehensive cost of living survey and is used to help multinational companies and governments determine compensation allowances for their expatriate employees".

Working through the sums shows that:

Living in Wellington is:
  • 57% the cost of Living in London
  • 81% the cost of Living in Glasgow
  • 82% the cost of Living in Birmingham
Living in Auckland is:
  • 59% the cost of Living in London
  • 84% the cost of Living in Glasgow
  • 85% the cost of Living in Birmingham
The cost of housing is obviously a big factor.
