Why do they say it's 3 months on their website if they're telling people it's 6 months? Quoted from the link above...
A residence visa
If you were issued a residence visa, you must still meet some requirements to ensure you remain a New Zealand resident.
* If you claimed points for an offer of skilled employment, you must take that job up within three months of being granted your permit. You must also stay in that job for at least three months and provide us with evidence that you have met these requirements within seven months of being granted your first residence permit.
* If you got points for already having a skilled job that you have held for less than three months, you must stay in the job until three months is up.
Sounds like the left arm doesn't know what the right arm is doing. It wouldn't be the first time that I've heard of different people within INZ giving differing answers to the same question. It really is quite dangerous. I've also read somewhere that you can change your job but it must be for another equally skilled position in the same field. I've no doubt that they would prefer you to stay put in your job as it's tidier but telling people they MUST stay in it is a bit dodgy if it's not true.
