I had a job offer before I submitted our EOI. I know if you have a job offer things are pushed through much quicker. I haven't yet submitted our ITA but the letter does give us the name & contact details of our visa officer. As Amy says - it may be worth giving them a call - just to remind them you exist if nothing else.
And as for Jon - just send him down the pub again
